New Directions High School

| New Directions High School is a unique alternative education high school that offers students many opportunities not offered at other alternative schools. New Directions offers smaller class sizes than most traditional high schools. The staff at New Directions uses a variety of teaching methods to accommodate many different learning styles. Students from all surrounding communities, age 15 to 19, are accepted at the school. Upon completion of New Directions' 22 credit program, students can participate in their own graduation program. Students also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and sports. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

¨ New Directions students participated in community service projects including organizing a fall and spring cleanups of Highland View Cemetery. ¨ Students enjoyed a team-building field trip to Ferris State University's Ropes Course. ¨ Students held their 2nd annual quilt raffle and raised over $700 towards a field trip for staff and students. ¨ All New Directions students were assigned a "small group" advisor to help facilitate better student-teacher and student-student relationships. ¨ Amy Salinger-Bordano and students raised money to help support our troops in Iraq through www.AnySoldier.com ¨ New Directions teamed up with Morley-Stanwood Alternative to offer students a spring formal dance. ¨ Matt Smith and Amy Salinger-Bordano teamed up to offer an art history course for our students.
